DESCRIPTION: \n  \n21 March 2018\n14:30-18:30 \nHotel Steigenberger Wiltcher’s\, Avenue Louise 71 \nBrussels (Belgium) \nRegister\nAbout the annual lecture\nThe current debate on the next EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation (FP9) offers the opportunity to articulate a long-term vision for biomedical and health research\, and to address current gaps in support of excellent science. Developing such a vision for Europe is important to make sure that future research will continue to improve citizens’ health and quality of life. \nTo contribute to this debate\, the FEAM European Biomedical Policy Forum’s annual lecture will bring together policy-makers and high-level representatives from across different biomedical sectors to present their vision for the future of biomedical and health research in Europe\, and how the European Union’s funding programmes could help achieving this. In particular\, the following topics will be addressed: \n\nThematic priorities for future biomedical and health research\, in particular: i) What should be the research ‘moonshot’ missions in the health/biomedical area?; ii) How to link future research priorities with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)?\nCurrent gaps in the support of biomedical and health research in Europe;\nHow to improve coordination and consolidation of biomedical research across Europe.\n\nThe annual lecture will feature the participation of Dr. Line Mathiessen\, Acting Director at the Health Directorate of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Research and Innovation\, and of high-level representatives from academia\, patients’ organisations and industry. \n\nAbout the FEAM European Biomedical Policy Forum\nThe FEAM European Biomedical Policy Forum provides a platform for discussion on key policy issues for the biomedical community. \nThe Forum is an initiative from the Federation of European Academies of Medicine (FEAM).
